The PXG 0311XF iron adds another option to the product line, as its wider trailing edge on the sole creates a lower center of gravity, making it easier to get the ball airborne.
The clubhead is still made of S25C carbon steel with a face insert of high-strength HT1770 steel to maximize ball speed.
What sets PXG irons apart is that the clubhead is hollow and filled with a thermoplastic elastomer that supports the thinner face to improve energy transfer and also dampens vibrations to optimize feel at impact.
Compared to the other PXG irons, the 0311XF features a longer head with slightly more offset and a thicker top edge to improve forgiveness.
The back of the head also features several screws made of a high-density tungsten alloy to position the center of gravity correctly; they also give the club a distinctive look.
Compared to the 0311, the feel at impact changes slightly—it’s not quite as precise and feels a bit heavier upon impact. For me, however, the launch was quite similar to the 0311, with a similar peak trajectory and not as high as I had expected.
