QuantumCOR Technology: An extremely lightweight, proprietary core material that reduces the weight of the core and allows more mass to be positioned low and around the perimeter of the club head. This significantly increases the moment of inertia (MOI). Combined with PXG's variable ultra-thin face technology, the COR value is increased to the USGA limit, resulting in extreme face deflection and incredible ball speed.
Ultra-thin maraging steel face: The face is made of high-strength HT1770 maraging steel and is 15% thinner than previous models at just 0.050 inches (~1.27mm) thick. Together with PXG's proprietary core material, GEN7 irons deliver COR performance that meets the USGA limit, increasing distance and forgiveness while improving sound and feel.
Power Channel Technology: A proprietary U-shaped channel on the inner surface of the clubface increases deflection at the top of the face. This channel promotes clubface movement and transfers energy to simultaneously increase launch angle, trajectory and ball speed.
Titanium Bezel Technology: A lightweight titanium insert that houses the precision weighting system removes mass from the center of the club to shift weight to the perimeter and increase MOI.
Internal Tungsten Weighting: The GEN7 irons feature an internal 20 gram tungsten weighting in the toe area that balances the CG in the center of the clubface and increases MOI to increase forgiveness.
Precision Weighting Technology: A large weight is located near the CG on the back of the club head. This center weight can be used to achieve the optimal swing weight. Customers can experience the benefits of these adjustments during a personal fitting session. The weights are not intended for post-purchase customization.
5-Forged: Each iron is forged five times from 8620 soft carbon steel, creating a tight grain structure that increases groove durability and improves overall feel and appearance.
Milled Back: Milling the back of each iron is a high-precision process that reduces wall thickness more than would be possible through forging alone to create a high-performance clubhead design and improved aesthetics.
